Jerome Deleon Guerrero, also known as William Taitingfong, is escorted by a Corrections officer after a bail hearing at the local courthouse on Monday morning.
JEROME Deleon Guerrero, also known as William Taitingfong, has been arrested after being wanted by the Department of Public Safety in connection with a burglary and theft incident.
Deleon Guerrero, 42, appeared before Superior Court Judge Joseph N. Camacho in the custody of the Department of Corrections for a bail hearing Monday morning.
The Office of the Attorney General-Criminal Division charged Deleon Guerrero with burglary and theft.
At the hearing, the defendant was represented by Assistant Public Defender Charlene Brown, while Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
Barcinas said Deleon Guerrero faces additional pending criminal charges and asked the court to maintain the $25,000 cash bail previously set by Judge Kenneth L. Govendo in the arrest warrant.
Judge Camacho agreed and remanded Deleon Guerrero to the custody of Corrections.
Brown, on behalf of her client, waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Deleon Guerrero will return to court for an arraignment on May 12 at 9 a.m.
According to the complaint against Deleon Guerrero, police received a call on April 1, reporting a burglary in San Antonio.
The victim, through an interpreter, told investigators that he left his home at 10 a.m. to pay his bills and then went to work.
When he returned home later that day, he discovered that his house was in disarray, the wi-fi modem and cameras had been unplugged and moved, and the memory SD card was missing.
The victim reported that $1,800, hidden in a black wallet under his bed, was missing. The wallet also contained his Employment Authorization Document.
Additionally, his gray DJI Mini 4 drone, worth $1,000, which he had placed beside the bed, was missing.
Also gone was his Car Fault Diagnostics Instrument, valued at $500.
The victim provided police with video footage showing a man inside his room, searching through every area. A police investigator, who had previously encountered Deleon Guerrero, identified him in the video.
