In order to qualify, your photo must show the use of one of the two tools developed by NOAA to identify the size of your fish: either the poster with 28 of the most commonly caught reef fish at their exact L50 size or the foldout ruler listing sizes of the most commonly caught reef fish.
The best photo submitted will earn a customized 128-quart ice chest worth $100 and the top 30 runners-up will receive “Size Matters” T-shirts or tank tops.
This month’s photo submission deadline is Nov. 28, followed by next month’s deadline of Dec. 25.
Email your photo to marfishmag@gmail.com or submit printed photographs to CRM, DEQ or DFW in an envelope with your name, contact information and “Size Matters Contest Submission” on the front.
Program manager Steven McKagen is thrilled with the success of the “Size Matters” campaign since its Spring launch.
“The fishing community has really adopted the principles quickly…in fact KKMP radio (92.1 FM/1440 AM) does a daily morning call-in segment and their phones ring off the hook from fishermen in response.”
