“We are urging all the other cancer victims, survivors and patients to come out and join the MMAC, which is held every May is the largest fundraising activity in the CNMI for cancer programs,” MMAC 2010 secretary Reina Camacho, who was one of yesterday’s speakers at the Rotary Club meeting at the Hyatt Regency, said.
Camacho is also encouraging the community to buy luminaries to be lighted during the event.
The luminaries are symbols of hope and light and will be decorated with the names of loved ones who are cancer survivors, those who continue to fight the disease those who have lost the battle, whether it’s for a parent, friend, sibling, neighbor, or anybody you know who has been touched by cancer.
The minimum contribution per luminaria is $5.
Camacho said the MMAC 2010 event will have several activities.
Last year, the 2009 MMAC fundraising event had 17 sponsors and generated $77,714.40.
Teams are still encouraged to join this year’s MMAC.
Registration fee for Puti’un Team or companies is $500 per team and$300 per team for Atdao or government and non-profit organizations, families and schools.
Commonwealth Cancer Association program manager Tina Sablan, who was also a speaker at the Rotary Club meeting, invites all cancer survivors and patients to join the regular CCA meetings every month.
For questions about the CCA, contact Sablan at 682-0050, visit www.ccamarianas.org, or call Janine Nogis, 2010 of the MMAC Committee chairwoman, at 664-8500.
