EDWARD Camacho will again assume the position of public safety commissioner by the end of the month, according to DPS spokesman Pete C. Muna yesterday.
Muna told reporters that during the command and staff meeting on Wednesday, Camacho informed them that the Department of the Army had approved his release from active duty.
“His orders are being published now and will go through the proper channel. This may take a little longer and probably take up most of May,” Muna said.
“We are happy with the good news and now we can continue to move forward with the blessing of the commissioner,” Muna said.
Camacho went on military leave last month because he had not been released from active duty.
Gov. Juan N. Babauta earlier stated that his administration would resolve the status of Camacho in the U.S. military.
Babauta named Deputy Commissioner for Operations Santiago Tudela as acting DPS commissioner.
