THE Commonwealth Cancer Association on May 1, 2025 launched a new concept of raising funds for its cause. It is called Mission: Possible.

The goal is to raise $100,000 that will go directly to essential services that CCA offers, primarily focusing on its client services program to provide critical financial assistance that will ensure cancer survivors have access to prescribed needs vital to their health and well-being.

In an interview on Thursday, CCA Board President Jocelyn Deleon Guerrero said Mission: Possible is a community-driven fundraiser that will span six months. Similar to CCA’s signature annual fundraising event, the Marianas March Against Cancer, Deleon Guerrero said teams will comprise Mission: Possible.

But unlike the MMAC, teams can raise funds in their own way, such as hosting events and activities to support CCA.

And that’s the beauty of Mission: Possible, Deleon Guerrero said. Although CCA will still reach out to the teams that had been participating in the MMAC, the six-month Mission: Possible fundraising campaign “is really open to anybody.” It could be an individual or a family who wants to do their own fundraiser for CCA. It can also be a non-profit group, a government agency, a school, or a small or large business organization.

But you have to be a registered team in order to be part of this new fundraiser, Deleon Guerrero said. “If you want to raise money for the CCA, like, $500 for example, you can come in, register and do a fundraiser. It could be a one-time fundraiser, or it could stretch to six months if you want,” she said.

The last MMAC hosted by CCA was held last year. The march was revived five years after the previous MMAC in 2019. From 2020 to 2023, CCA was unable to hold the MMAC due to restrictions in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the CCA board said due to the current economic challenges facing the community, they made the difficult decision to pause the MMAC for this year, and launch Mission: Possible in its place, carrying the same mission — supporting cancer patients, raising awareness and uniting the community in the fight against cancer.

Aside from Deleon Guerrero, the other officers of the CCA are board vice president Nicolette Villagomez, secretary Monique B. Sablan, treasurer Rose A. Soledad, board members Annie C. Trusso, Roman “Bo” T. Palacios and Tina M. Aguon, interim executive director Lynn Tenorio, community outreach and social Media Coordinator Fran’Ko Deleon Guerrero and client services and administrative coordinator Mercilia V. Teigita.
