Celebrating Head Start’s support staff of the year

Evelyn works with the families’ welfare in mind by assisting them to document family goals, assessing their strengths and needs, connecting them with community services and programs, and implementing parent involvement activities and training opportunities.  However her work does not stop there, on a daily basis she actively participates with the children in the classrooms, takes the opportunity to meet with parents during the drop off and pick up times, coordinates with other Head Start staff to ensure that the center continues to provide a safe learning environment and offers support to the teaching staff.

Evelyn’s receiving the Support Staff of the Year of the Award is based on her dependability, commitment, and dedication to the program. She strives to achieve consistent level of quality and excellence.

Lathania Santos, Head Start education and disabilities manager, echoed the selection, committee’s recommendation stating that “Mrs. Evangelista goes above and beyond her duties.  We congratulate her on her achievement and wish her continued success.”

In addition to her role with Head Start, Evelyn also serves as certified facilitator for the NMI Humanities Council Motheread/Fatheread Family Literacy Program.
