Chamorro Culture Park job fair on Guam

According to Ernie Galito, the first job fair took place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and was for residents interested in applying for jobs in the main park area.

“It went pretty well —  about 50 people filled out applications for the park manager, cashier, tour guides, and also for villagers to reenact Hagåtña village 500 years ago,” Galito said.

Most of the applicants were Chamorro speaking and were Chamorro teachers.  They will address visitors in Chamorro and talk about how life was in a village before the Spanish arrived.

“They were enthusiastic to participate,” said Galito.

On Wednesday evening, the second job fair was held for the park’s beach bar.

Galito said about 70 applications were turned in for the bar.  They are looking for bar backs, bar tenders, cooks, housekeeping, security, and waitresses.

There is going to be another job fair in about a week for those who weren’t able to make it to Wednesday’s event.

The first phase of the park is scheduled to open at the end of the month.
