Change of command at Rota High School

This biannual event was witnessed by the entire RHS faculty and student body. Antenille M. Santos who was a former graduate of RHS and a former buck battalion commander was the inspirational speaker, and Sharlene Manglona, RHS principal, gave the opening remarks.

CNMI PTSA Advisory Council vice president Edita Taimanao, RHS PTA president Therese Hizon, RHS PTA vice president Marla Barcinas, retired LTC Robert Gay and Phil Quitugua from the multi-school unit headquarters as well as parents and family members.

The battalion would like to once again thank Ike Mendiola, Rota’s professional videographer, for filming the ceremony for the community’s preview on Rota’s local television channel.

The new chain of command will be challenged with a new mission at the end of this month. They have been aggressively planning, organizing, and coordinating the training sites for the CNMI Multiple School Unit  JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge on Rota. Training will include 150 cadets from all five high schools who will participate in various leadership positions and team building activities.

The Buck Battalion would like to express its profound appreciation to LTC Robert Gay, PSS MSU JROTC director of army instruction, for selecting the beautiful island of Rota as the training site from June 17-23. “Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Rita Sablan, commissioner of education, for supporting this annual event, Mayor Melchor Mendiola for providing site support, and Mrs. Maria S. Quitugua, principal for Dr. Rita Inos Junior High School for the use of the campus as the campsite.”

The Buck Battalion is anxiously awaiting the arrival of their cadet counterparts which will invariably result in the development of new skills and interisland collaboration in numerous training events under a field environment.
