(CHCC) — The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of its Interventional Pain Management Clinic — a new service dedicated to supporting individuals in the CNMI who are living with chronic pain.
Chronic pain impacts millions of people worldwide and continues to be a leading cause for medical visits, particularly for conditions such as low back pain. At CHCC, we recognize the significant toll that persistent pain can have on a person’s daily life, limiting mobility, productivity, and overall quality of life. In response, we are expanding access to specialized treatments that were previously only available off-island.
With the establishment of this clinic, residents of the CNMI now have local access to several evidence- based, outpatient procedures aimed at managing, reducing, or even eliminating chronic pain — allowing patients to return to the activities and lifestyles they value.
Services now offered through the Interventional Pain Management Clinic include:
• Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections – Alleviates pain caused by irritation of nerve roots in the lower spine.
• Lumbar Radiofrequency Nerve Ablation – An outpatient procedure that targets arthritic pain in the lower back. This treatment may provide relief lasting from six months up to two years with minimal with minimal recovery time.
• Sacroiliac Joint Injections – Reduces inflammation and pain in the large joints of the lower back.
• Occipital Nerve Injections – Treats occipital neuralgia, a headache disorder originating from the base of the skull, often related to neck injury or tension.
• Trigger Point Injections – Offers targeted relief for muscle spasms and tightness.
These treatments are now available on a regular outpatient basis, eliminating the need for travel to off- island facilities such as those in Guam.
CHCC remains committed to enhancing the accessibility and quality of healthcare services across the CNMI. By introducing the Interventional Pain Management Clinic, we aim to support our residents in achieving better health outcomes and improved day-to-day functioning.
