(CHCC) —  The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation proudly welcomes Dr. George Elias, a highly accomplished and dual board-certified surgeon specializing in general surgery and trauma/surgical critical care, to its medical team. Additionally, CHCC recognizes Dr. Martin Rohringer, for successfully achieving certification as a medical review officer, further enhancing CHCC’s commitment to excellence in healthcare services.

Dr. Elias brings a wealth of experience to CHCC, having previously worked in surgical private practice and at a Level II trauma center in one of California’s major metropolitan areas. He also served as the chief of surgical services for a community hospital in Maine. Before embarking on his career in surgery, Dr. Elias served as an officer in the United States Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.

“I became a physician because it not only fulfills my desire for lifelong learning and commitment to healing others in all aspects of life — physically, mentally, and spiritually — but it also, most effectively, brings out the best of who I am — dedicating myself to the health and welfare of others,” said Dr. Elias. “The moment I meet someone in the office or at the hospital, my practice philosophy is to treat them like a member of my own family. In doing so, I expect nothing less than to provide the highest level of care and support as I would expect someone else to care for my own loved ones.”

CHCC is pleased to have Dr. Elias join its growing team of dedicated healthcare professionals, reinforcing its commitment to providing exceptional surgical care to the CNMI community.

In addition to welcoming Dr. Elias, CHCC proudly recognizes Dr. Rohringer for his recent achievement in earning certification as a medical review officer. This prestigious certification, recognized under federal guidelines since August 1, 2001, requires extensive specialized training and a nationally recognized examination.

Dr. Rohringer’s certification was awarded by the American Association of Medical Review Officers, Inc., a non-profit medical society that establishes national standards and certifies professionals in drug and alcohol testing. This certification highlights his dedication to upholding the highest standards of quality, ethics, and confidentiality in medical review processes.

The role of an MRO is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of federally regulated drug testing programs. MROs verify drug test results, assess potential alternative medical explanations for positive findings, and safeguard the privacy of individuals undergoing testing. Their expertise is vital in balancing workplace safety with individual rights while upholding due process principles.

CHCC commends Dr. Rohringer  for  his dedication  to  excellence  in medical  review  services.  His certification enhances the reliability and quality of drug and alcohol testing in the Commonwealth, reinforcing CHCC’s ongoing commitment to public health and safety.
