Chinese tourists can now travel to French Polynesia

Oceania Flash reports that the approved destination status will be effective from Sept. 15.

After years of protracted negotiations, Pape’ete-based Chinese Consul General Zhang Dongyue announced in March this year that French Polynesia had been granted the much sought-after approved destination status.

This week’s approval in effect means French Polynesia has now joined the list of some 95 approved destination worldwide for Chinese tourists.

It also means, on the implementation level, that travel groups will be allowed out of China into the French Pacific territory, provided they hold a passport valid for more than six months.
