Arts Council coordinator Parker Yobei said there was no time to arrange for another venue.
“We would have loved to bring the art exhibit closer to the people,” he said.
The Island Artists and Christmas Crafts Exhibit will open on Dec. 7 and run until Dec. 31.
“We are setting up the gallery now but we are inviting all the artists on island to come and bring their products for display,” Yobei said.
Registration is free for all artists and all sales from the products will be given back to them.
Yobei said the Arts Council has been holding regular exhibits for several years now to help local artists cultivate their talents, promote their work, find a suitable market, and create a link to buyers of the art products.
The Arts Council hosts three major art exhibits each year: the Women’s Art Exhibit in March, the Pacifica Arts and Cultural Exhibit in September, and the Island Artist and Christmas Craft Exhibit.
“We would like to invite the community to come and buy Christmas products by our local artists,” Parker said.
The bestselling products each year include small ornaments, crafts, and other hand-made items.
The Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. It is closed on Sundays and holidays.
