THE “Santa’s Sealand Christmas” lighting festivity was held on the grounds of the administration building on Capital Hill, and at the multi-purpose center in Susupe on Friday evening, Dec. 6.
At the Capital Hill event, dozens of residents gathered to witness the official launch of the Christmas Village.
Various government agencies provided displays, and children in attendance received free candy and other treats.
Children and their families were also able to ride the BenKi train courtesy of the Office of the Governor.
The U.S. Air Force Band’s Pacific Brass Quintet was a special guest and provided musical entertainment.
Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang said, “[With] 19 days before Christmas, Governor Palacios and I hope that this lighting [ceremony] is one way to lift and brighten the spirits and hope of everyone who calls the CNMI home,”
For his part, Gov. Arnold Palacios extended his “appreciation to all of you who worked hard to make this happen for the members of our community, especially our young people, our children, so they can have a festive Christmas 2024.”
