Cing said Luis P. Crisostimo has just been elected by Saipan voters to be their senator.
“It’s a mistake to abandon the mandate of the very people who elected him senator,” the former Tinian lawmaker said.
Variety was unable to get a comment from Crisostimo yesterday.
Cing at the same time commended former Democratic Sen. Juan T. Guerrero for urging their party to hold a primary when selecting the “best candidate.”
“I am glad that a Democrat like Juanpan (Guerrero) is pushing for a strong party. This is very important now that many are coming back to our party,” Cing told Variety.
He said he is not backing out of the congressional delegate race, but added that he will respect the result of the Democratic primary.
Like Crisostimo and Guerrero, he is convinced that the CNMI should elect a Democratic delegate to the U.S. Congress, which is expected to remain under the control of national Democrats.
