Andy Lanie of the State Department’s public affairs office was not able to confirm her arrival at the Yigo base, nor could AAFB’s media liaison.
However, international news service wires confirm that Clinton’s plane landed at AAFB and stayed for a few hours.
Clinton will be taking part in the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty and she will have meetings with Philippine President Benigno Aquino Jr.
In addition to the meetings, she is also expected to tour a warship the U.S. provided to the Philippines. The tour comes at a time when there is reported high tension between the Philippine government and China over territories in the South China Sea.
After her visit in the Philippines, Clinton will travel to Thailand and then meet President Obama in Bali, Indonesia for the East Asia Summit.
