CNMI Labor’s Staffler to speak at SHRM meeting

THE Society for Human Resource Management-CNMI Chapter is pleased to announce that CNMI Department of Labor Secretary Leila Staffler and her team will be joining SHRM’s March 2025 general membership meeting to provide key insights on local labor compliance and employer responsibilities in the CNMI.

Following the first guest speaker, U.S. Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds, who will share updates and support from the federal level, Staffler and the CNMI DOL team will tie it all together by addressing workforce regulations at the local level. Their presentation will focus on employer obligations, workforce trends, and compliance with CNMI labor laws, ensuring businesses are informed and prepared to meet local labor standards.

“As HR professionals, staying ahead of compliance requirements is not just a best practice — it’s a necessity. With the CNMI Department of Labor’s oversight of workforce regulations, their guidance on employer responsibilities and worker protections is more relevant than ever,” said SHRM-NMI Chapter President Roman Tudela.

This discussion with the CNMI DOL secretary will complement the congressional office updates and Q&A session with the U.S. congresswoman, ensuring attendees gain both federal and local perspectives on workforce-related policies, economic trends, and compliance matters.
