Coleman is scheduled to leave for Honolulu, Hawaii on Dec. 15 to attend the four-day conference on “VA Taskforce Health Care and Benefits to the Veterans in the Pacific Insular Areas and U.S. Virgin Islands.”
The meeting, Coleman said, will tackle health care and other benefits provided to veterans and what can be done to improve them.
The conference will be attended by VA officials and representatives of veterans offices from American Samoa, Palau, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Coleman was preparing her 35-minute Power Point presentation yesterday.
In an interview, she said she will brief the VA officials and about the services that the CNMI veterans office gives to the military personnel and veterans here.
Coleman will also discuss the status of the 1,500 military personnel and veterans in the CNMI and why they must have a VA outreach clinic and benefits office on Saipan.
Coleman will also inform federal officials about the projected increase in the number of military personnel and veterans in the CNMI as a result of the military build-up on Guam.
The conference will end on Dec. 19 and Coleman will head back to Saipan on Dec.20.
