Hyung Ji Jang, or Jeanie, plays the flute and was raised on Saipan.
“I’ve always wanted to come back for a performance. I thought that it would be more fun and more interesting if I get together with people who play different instruments,” she said.
A Saipan Community School graduate and a recipient of the CNMI Governor’s Award for the Performing Arts, she obtained her doctorate from the Arizona State University.
Joo Hyun plays the piano and is excited to share her music with the residents of Saipan.
She will be performing a solo piece by Debussy.
She has been playing the piano since she was five years old and has performed with the Seoul Academy Symphony Orchestra.
Hye-Joon Ju plays the French horn.
“I like the sound of the instrument,” she said.
She has a Peabody Conservatory master’s degree and graduate performer’s diploma.
Hyun-Jung Lee loves the cello.
Influenced by her mother, a pianist, her natural love for music took over when she started learning to play the instrument.
She has a Yale University School of Music diploma.
The other visiting musician is oboe player Hye-yeon Ju.
All will perform solo pieces and play together selected musical numbers.
“We would like people to come to hear us play. We love to perform. The more, the merrier,” Hyung Ji Jang said.
The concert will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hyatt’s Giovanni, and at 7:30 p.m. at the Saipan Presbyterian Church.
Everyone is invited and admission is free.
