“However,” he said, “it is not something permanent and I think community members have to support each other during these trying times.”
The people should also remain patient and calm because medical experts, the federal and local governments as well as international bodies such as the World Health Organization are on top of the situation, he said.
Tan added that long before the current crisis, and throughout CNMI history, the Commonwealth government has always been looking for a new industry aside from tourism.
“It is not that easy,” he said, referring to bringing in new investors.
“What we only have right now is our beautiful islands, which the tourists love to see and visit,” he added.
