Judge John C. Coughenour will be 69 years old this July.
Among the high-profile cases he had handled was the sentencing of Ahmed Ressam, the “millennium bomber,” found guilty of plotting to blow up Los Angeles International Airport.
The judge gave the terrorist lighter sentence than the U.S. government sought.
In the case of Nogis, National Park Service Ranger Brian Piercy said the defendant was cited for littering on April 26, 2010 due to “a large amount of litter” at the park’s softball field.
Piercy said Nogis reserved the tables used for the party.
Nogis’ counsel Joseph N. Camacho said his client is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Nogis is the campaign manager of Camacho, who is running for congressional delegate.
