His appointment, however, has been questioned by a resident of Tinian who cited a “conflict of interest.”
The resident, who declined to be identified, said Anthony H. Aguon of Tinian, one of the four nominees to the new Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. whom the Senate recently confirmed, is Hofschneider’s nephew.
In a separate interview, the Tinian Health Center’s acting director said his position is “only temporary.”
“I am not even an applicant,” he said, adding that they are still in the transition period.
He declined to comment when asked why Ray Dela Cruz, the son of Tinian mayor Ramon Dela Cruz, is no longer the resident director.
The Tinian resident also questioned the action of the Senate in confirming the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. board pending the results of the appointees’ drug tests.
“They should wait for the results of the drug tests because their position is very important as they are dealing with healthcare,” he said.
He wants all staff, nurses, doctors and employees of Tinian Health Center to also undergo a drug test. Likewise, a desk audit should be conducted at the center, he added.
Hofschneider said a drug test is already requirement for those who want to work in the government.
