Contractors offered opportunity to learn how to contest OSHA citations

Adrian A Estes, PhD, RN, RSP, RES is retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and holds a PhD in safety management.

Estes is the director of the International Board of Environmental Health and Safety Inc. which is the nationally approved accredited safety certification registry agency.

He has over 16 years experience in occupational safety and health as a consultant, lecturer, instructor, and expert witness and has provided services for a multiple of companies to include: Kiewit Pacific, Otis Elevator, Granite Construction, and Raytheon to name a few.

In addition to Estes, NAVFAC Marianas safety program manager Anthony Sholing will also be making a presentation covering NAVFAC’s onsite inspection protocols as well as NAVFAC’s citation procedures.

“Many companies do not realize that they can contest citations issued by OSHA, the process although tedious and time consuming can result in the company saving thousands of dollars in fines. The courses we are offering on Saturday, will provide participants a roadmap on how to successfully contest citations and deal with audits without an attorney,” said Phillip Mendiola-Long, president of Sherman Consulting.

All contractors and businesses who deal with OSHA on a regular basis are encouraged to attend the OSHA training as it is the first time Guam has had the opportunity to take part in the training program. Registration is $195 for both courses and includes a light breakfast, snacks, lunch buffet, reception and conference handouts and materials.

For more information on the training program e-mail [email protected].

Registration is limited so interested parties are encouraged to register prior to this Saturday’s training.
