Muna, 25, promised to attend all his court hearings, and to follow other terms and conditions of his release.
Judge Perry B. Inos ordered Muna to return to court for his arraignment on March 14.
Inos earlier imposed a $500 bail on Muna.
Detective Jonathan Decena said Muna was identified on surveillance video at Sarah Market on Capital Hill where infant milk and other items were stolen last year.
On Aug. 22, 2010, at about 3:38 p.m., Decena said police were dispatched to the store, where a total of $132.93 worth of infant formula was stolen.
Preliminary investigation showed that based on the video footage, a Nissan Sentra pulled into the parking lot.
The operator was a male, while his companion was a female.
When the two entered the store, the female grabbed a yellow shopping basket, and both headed toward the infant food and milk aisle, police said.
The male suspect took a case containing six cans and put it inside the basket.
The male suspect took another can of powdered milk, and stuffed it inside his pants.
Both exited the store.
The crime was discovered after the supervisor asked staffers if the two individuals bought something before leaving the store.
The two suspects returned to the same store in the evening, police said.
