Court revokes probation of man for ‘ice’ use

commerce by robbery was revoked on Friday for his failure to comply with the terms and conditions of his release.

According to the authorities, Melvin Nakatsukasa Basa used  a controlled substance — “ice.”

He appeared for a revocation hearing on Friday morning with attorney Danilo Aguilar.

U.S. District Court for NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson ordered that Basa’s supervised release be revoked and that he be sentenced to a term of seven months of imprisonment.

While in prison, Basa will participate in a substance abuse program approved by the Bureau of Prisons. He was placed on supervised release for 53 months. He was also ordered to comply with the requirements of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act; cooperate in the collection of a DNA sample at the direction of the U.S. Probation Office; perform 300 hours of community service; pay restitution fee of $4,088 to Wu Guo Qing as well as $1,483 to Fleming Harumi and Jia Jia Ueda.

Basa is also facing a TRO complaint in the CNMI Superior Court for hitting his girlfriend and her daughter.

The girlfriend claimed that Basa threatened to kill her. A hearing was held on May 28.
