Court summons 4 individuals to answer domestic violence charges

Chief Prosecutor Kevin A. Lynch has charged 25-year old James Priest of San Antonio with one count of assault and battery and  disturbing the peace.

According to Lynch, on April 18, 2008, Priest physically harmed a female member of his household by pulling the woman out of the vehicle by the hair and leaving her lying on the ground.

The Attorney General’s Office also charged 38-year old Luis P. Sablan of As Teo for criminal mischief, disturbing the peace and interfering with a domestic violence report.

The AGO said Sablan intentionally damaged his wife’s laptop computer on March 27, 2008.

When Sablan’s wife tried to report a crime involving domestic violence to the police, the defendant took the phone line out of the telephone, the AGO said.

Twenty-year-old Charlie Misaro of Koblerville was charged with disturbing the peace, criminal mischief and for minor consuming alcohol.

On Jan.31, 2008, Misaro intentionally damaged a car belonging to Edward Muna, the AGO said.

Misaro was also charged with consuming alcoholic beverage, a violation of the CNMI laws since he is under the age of 21.

Melvin Nakatsukasa Basa, 36, was charged with disturbing the peace and interfering with a domestic violence report when he snatched a cellular phone from a woman who tried to report an incident of domestic violence to the police on April 5.

Basa was convicted of robbery eight years ago. He was sentenced to seven months in prison in May for violating his probation.

The Superior Court summoned Basa to appear and answer the charges on Nov. 18 at 9 a.m.

Priest, Sablan and Misaro were ordered to answer the charges in court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 18.

The court stated that failure to appear may result in an application for the issuance of a warrant of arrest.
