Covid-19 vaccine arrives

THE first shipment of Covid-19 arrived at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport at 5:30 a.m. this morning.

On board United Airlines, the shipment sent by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through Operation Warp Speed was immediately transported to Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna and CNMI Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Warren Villagomez came to receive the shipment.

The governor, Muna and the Task Force joined the convoy along with Department of Public Safety officers who escorted the shipment to CHCC.

“A lot of planning and work went in to get to this state. We are grateful to all involved,” Muna said in an interview.

“This is just another step to keep CNMI residents safe and protected from SARS-CoV-2,” she said adding that their goal is to “get the vaccines to our residents and as soon as more vaccines arrive and are ready for distribution announcements will be made.”
