“About 15 dedicated CJSO members may make it on the two-day trip to Guam,” he added.
The group held its second hot lunch fundraiser on Friday and earned over $1,000.
Benavente said the results of the first two fundraisers were positive indications that their group “is getting there to reach the goal for the trip.”
While on Guam, CJSO also intends to visit Guam Community College and the crime laboratory.
On Tuesday, the CJSO members conducted a room to room campaign to promote their hot lunch fundraiser and to invite students to join the organization and its meetings.
Criminal justice instructor Jack Palacios will help CJSO in its trip since he has connections on Guam where he studied college.
CJSO is planning two more bake sale fundraisers, Benavente said.
He is extending his gratitude to their schoolmates who helped them in the fundraisers.
CJSO is giving special thanks to Jack Sn. and Bertha Camacho for providing them the facilities for the recent fundraiser and Frank Sn. Camacho for helping them cook food.
For those interested to join the organization, see Charnessa Lizama at the Office of Criminal Justice Program at NMC or attend the general meeting on Nov. 4 at Java Joe’s, starting at 6 p.m.
