DUE to budgetary constraints, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation board of directors has suspended the performance-based 5% pay increase for CUC employees.
“The suspension will take effect on October 1, 2024, in the beginning of FY 2025, and will remain in place until further notice,” said acting Executive Director Betty Terlaje in a memo to CUC employees on Sept. 27.
The 5% increase was previously included in CUC’s FY 2025 budget.
“While the board and management are disheartened to share this news, we fully understand the potential impact this may have on you and your colleagues,” Terlaje said in her memo. “Our primary responsibility is to safeguard the financial health of the corporation, while also striving to maintain a positive and supportive work environment for all,” she added.
Terlaje informed the CUC employees that the board of directors and management “are actively exploring alternative options to address this matter.”
The CUC board decided on the suspension in a meeting on Sept. 26, 2024, that was attended by Chair Janice Tenorio, Secretary Allen Perez, members Simon Sanchez, Rebecca White, Valerie Atalig and Francisco Rabauliman.
