INSPIRED by the story of its full-time employee who graduated summa cum laude from college, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. said it would allow other employees to work while pursuing their post-secondary education.
CUC Executive Director Bernard Villagomez said the corporation is currently negotiating with Northern Marianas College to allow its employees to undergo classes after working hours.
Villagomez said CUC would also allow employees who will enroll at the college to work on weekends to complete the 80 hours bi-weekly workload requirement.
He said this policy would enable CUC to develop its own educated workforce.
“The better their education, the better opportunities they would have,” Villagomez said.
Last April, 31-year-old Marie Nora Palacios Coleman, a CUC employee, graduated summa cum laude from NMC. She also received the Student Achievement Award.
