Yesterday, two classes on management and leadership skill training were attended by 12 participants, mostly from the supervisory level, he said.
Employees with potential leadership qualities also participated, he added.
“They will be our future manager,” Burkett said.
Today, the training on how to manage challenging employees will be attended by managers, he said.
The training is conducted quarterly by the Hawaii Rural Water Association led by training specialist Gary Byrd.
Next week, the 30-hour training from Monday to Friday will focus on water operator certification.
“The goal is to make water operators certified,” Burkett said. “We want our employees to become certified operators as required by the Environmental Protection Agency.”
There are 20 employees from the water division, including two from Tinian and three from Rota, who have enrolled in water operator certification class.
Training on confined space safety will also be conducted for eight personnel.
Burkett said CUC’s operations will continue as they have personnel assigned to attend to the work of those attending the training.
