CUC now requires Taotao Tano to pay $1 per page of photocopied documents unlike before when they do not have to pay anything, Cruz said.
Cruz wants to see documents regarding the amount of money that CUC plans to borrow from the security deposits of its customers.
His letter of request reads as follows: “Under the Open Government Act, or Public Law 8-41, we would like to obtain information on the total amount in dollar figures that CUC plans to borrow or take from its customers security deposit.”
According to Cruz, CUC made him write a request form and was told to pay $1 per photocopied page of document he was requesting.
Based on the CUC request form, Cruz asked the agency to charge him 50 cents per page, adding that Taotao Tano is a non-profit group.
He said CUC did not accommodate his request.
In a recent interview, CUC Executive Director Antonio S. Muna said they will charge a $1 fee for each page of documents requested through the Open Government Act.
He said if Cruz needs copies of documents, “then he will have to pay for [them] — and it’s a dollar a page.”
“From what I understand, we’ve been advised that’s a reasonable price,” Muna added.
Some business establishments charge only 25 cents per photocopied page.
