Based on their $6 million contract with the company, CUC has to provide fuel, fuel storage and potable water for Aggreko’s temporary power plant in Lower Base.
Aggreko is generating 13 megawatts, Muna said.
But the two other Aggreko generator sets didn’t arrive as scheduled yesterday, he added.
There was an unavoidable delay in the shipment, he said.
CUC is expecting to get the two generator sets by Sept. 21 and have them online four days later, Muna said.
The fuel pipeline that is supposed to connect the Aggreko generators to Power Plant 1 is still being fixed.
In the meantime, Muna said they are still using a fuel tanker in providing fuel to the Aggreko units.
Three engines of Power Plants 1 and 2 continue to augment Aggreko’s power generation.
At Power Plant 2, only Engine 6 is online but by the end of this week, Engine 1 may be able to generate power, Muna said. “Our objective really is to run only a maximum of two engines and a minimum of one so the other engines can rest while the repair and rehabilitation efforts continue.”
Muna at the same time noted that some business establishments who were using generators are now tapping CUC’s power supply.
He urged these business establishments to coordinate with CUC which is trying to control the access to its power supply.
