CUC wants to ensure safe drinking water even if there are disruptions of its supply-stream.
“There is no shortage of chlorine for our treatment and disinfection programs,” he told Variety.
Fletcher said CUC’s disinfection program has been very effective despite the many challenges they face.
“We are proud of our accomplishments in repairing and upgrading our delivery system and in providing quality drinking water to homes and businesses,” he said.
In 2010, he said, Saipan experienced only one total coliform water quality violation, and it was due to faulty sample equipment.
But overall, he said, CUC was able to establish an excellent record and vast improvement over past years.
He expressed his special recognition to CUC’s water treatment team led by Bernard Keremius, the drinking water section, including water treatment, laboratory analysts, repair crews, and engineering professionals for their work in protecting public health.
“It is important to note that each year we conduct thousands of water quality and analytical tests in order provide our customer with clean safe drinking water,” Fletcher said.
By next month, he added, CUC will be distributing copies of its 2010 Water Quality Report to provide the community a more complete picture of CUC’s progress.
