CUC Deputy Executive Director Alan W. Fletcher said there were no additional submittals of reports to the court.
The meeting was a follow-up to the August conference when CUC submitted its responses to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency summary concerning CUC’s compliance with the federal stipulated orders.
“CUC’s success in achieving a fully executed contract for a project construction manager was discussed,” he said.
He said Gene Eidem, PE, of Endeavour Inspection Services LLC, has been retained as construction manager.
A project “kick-off” meeting has been scheduled for Sept. 16, with representatives from CUC, EPA, the Division of Environmental Quality, the construction manager and the contractor, Smithbridge Guam Inc., expected to attend, Fletcher said.
The new pipeline will replace the current dilapidated pipeline that transfers oil from the Mobil Oil facility to CUC’s power plant holding tanks, he added.
He said the new pipe will be installed underground and will be less susceptible to environmental conditions and other hazards.
The project is expected to take approximately six months to complete after receipt of materials and before the 2012 typhoon season, he added.
