CUC to upgrade computer system

Last week, CUC officials used the teleconference facilities at  Northern Marianas College to interview the respondent for the RFP.

CUC will be getting grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of the Interior for the computer system upgrade, Warren said.

On July 25, CUC’s computer system was down and it had to process billing and payments manually.

“We run a pretty old system and so a few months ago we had to purchase a replacement but it wasn’t up  yet,” Warren said.

The problem they recently experienced has expedited the implementation of the replacement of the system.

Even if it is replaced, there’s still no guarantee the computer system will not get into trouble, Warren said.

“Things break and we can’t ensure that it will never happen again but we hope it will not be prolonged next time,” he added.

Warren said CUC has been addressing its computer system problem.

Before, he noted, there was only one computer personnel, but CUC now has hired two more employees.
