CUC water division aims to get all personnel certified

He said they have been conducting training for their staff every Thursday, in addition to the training provided by the Division of Environmental Quality.

They already have 10 certified personnel for wastewater collection, wastewater treatment, water treatment and water distribution, he added.

Megarr said upgrading the skills of their personnel will also address the federal stipulated orders which require CUC to comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act.

CUC is required to develop and submit an organizational evaluation and reorganization plan, which includes a summary of current employee certification and the qualifications for each employee category.

Megarr said they have 365 days  to comply with the federal requirement on the certification of operators.

“We are on track to ensure that we are in compliance,” he added.

Based on the agency’s records, CUC water division manager Mariano Iglecias has obtained level 4 in water distribution system operations and level 3 in water plant treatment operations.

Trades specialist Bernard Keremius, the supervisor of the chlorination team, passed his level 3 water treatment certification in 2006.

Other certified personnel in level 3 water distribution are Larry Manacop, Alan J. Lebria, Glenn W. Dikito, Glenn M. Villagomez, William S. Deleon Guerrero Oscar Sablan and Melvin Tudela.
