The Valentine’s Ball, according to Rose Dance school instructor Resty Joson, gave the participants from the three dance venues a chance to meet together for the first time and join the line dance competition.
“Four teams from the Susupe group and two joint teams from Gualo Rai and the Carolinian Village venue joined the competition,” Joson said.
He said they have their hands full with the increasing number of participants in the free dance classes but those who are interested to spend a few hours of dancing as exercise each week are still welcome to join.
Joson and his three co-dance instructors, Eden Quizon, Manny Joson and Allen Cuyugan, urged members of the community to join the free dance classes.
“It will do you a lot of good because aside from the exercise you will get from dancing, you get lessons in Latin and ballroom dancing for free,” Joson said.
Plans are underway to hold a dance presentation by the beach in the next few months.
The free dance classes offered by Rose Dance School in Garapan are part of a program under the Department of Public Health in cooperation with the Saipan Mayor’s Office and the Wise Women Project.
Wise Women Program project director Dr. Gary Ramsey earlier said that the program was born “to give access to the community to engage in physical exercise, and have fun while doing it.”
The free dance classes, which started in Dec. 1 last year, are held in three locations: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gualo Rai Youth Center; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7-9 p.m., Susupe Social Hall; and Tuesday and Thursday, 6-8 p.m., at the Carolinian Village in Garapan.
Just show up at the scheduled time in any location to join the free dance classes or call 233-7236 for more information.
