THE Department of Public Safety arrested Darvin Muna, 21, after he confessed to stabbing another man on Wednesday.
DPS received a call reporting a stabbing incident on Commonwealth Drive in Chinatown on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
In an official statement, Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said, “Preliminary officers who arrived at the scene identified a 56-year-old male with a stab wound on the left side of his chest.”
The Department of Fire and Medical Services transported the victim to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, where he was treated.
“The victim remains in serious but stable condition and is undergoing further examinations,” Manacop said.
According to DPS, police learned that while the victim and his employees were gathered at a shop, the suspect drove recklessly past them. He later returned to the location and aggressively confronted the group, asking if they “had a problem.” When the victim approached the suspect and spoke to him through the driver’s side window, the suspect stabbed him in the chest and immediately fled the scene.
Manacop said, “While officers attended to the victim, the suspect in this incident called the emergency line and confessed to stabbing the victim. Officers later made contact with the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Darvin Muna. Muna was later arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon.”
“This case is actively being investigated as Muna remains in custody at the Department of Corrections,” he added.
