DCCA to hold public hearing on child care development

Acting DCCA Secretary Melvin Faisao said the hearing is open to the public and all the other agencies affiliated with child care development in the CNMI.

He said during the hearing, they will  determine the strengths and weaknesses of the child care development plan.

Faisao said this will be the first time for DCCA to handle the State Plan Development Fund.

He said it was under the Public School System in the previous years until February last year when it was transferred to DCCA.

Under the child care development plan for fiscal years 2010-2011, DCCA has the flexibility to modify the program.

Included in the subject areas for the plan are administration matters covering agency information, estimated funding and administration costs.

Other areas of concern deal with developing the child care program, child care services, parental rights and responsibilities, activities and services to improve the quality and availability of child care, health and safety requirements for providers and health and safety requirements.

The  plan takes effect  on Oct. 1, 2009.
