But Faisao said the department needs one full-time public information officer and one full-time grant writer.
The department also needs two full-time clinical psychologists, two full-time nurses and two full-time dieticians for the Juvenile Detention Unit and for the Office on Aging.
Other posts that need to be filled include one full-time Boy and Girl Scouts Coordinator for the Division of Sports and Recreation, three full-time physical therapists for the Juvenile Detention Unit, the Office on Aging and the Division of Sports and Recreation, two full-time social workers for the Office on Aging, two full-time amateur sports coordinators, three full-time certified licensed child care inspectors, one full-time certified Juvenile Detention Unit inspector, and two full time certified Chamorro/Carolinian translators.
Faisao said that if these posts are filled, DCCA will continue to “deliver excellent services” to the community.
Faisao stated in his transition report to Gov. Benigno R. Fitial that his department has 82 full time employees.
Of the $2,245,675 budget DCCA gets each year from local funding, $1,736,733 is spent on personnel, $381,288 on non-personnel, and $127,654 on utilities.
DCCA also receives over $4 milion in regular funding from the federal government for specific programs like food stamps and child care development.
