Defendant in assault case asks court to modify $1,500 cash bail

Judge Kenneth L. Govendo earlier allowed Hapdei’s co-defendant, Vernalani Mike, 27, to post $150, representing 10 percent of the $1,500 bail order, and the remaining $1,350 in unsecured bond.

Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan said the incident happened on Lower Navy Hill on Feb. 11 and was reported to the police at 5:53 p.m.

Mike and her sister argued about the cellular phone and started pulling each other’s hair, police said.

Hapdei, Mike’s boyfriend, came in and pulled the sister by the hair, and started punching her while dragging her to the other side of the room, police said.

Mike, for her part, pulled her mother’s hair as they struggled, police said.

The mother later ran out of the room and asked the neighbor to call the police.
