Defendants in Kagman kidnap-rape case deny charges

The third suspect, also a Kagman student, has yet to be arrested by authorities.

After the arraignment, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja remanded Angel Jess Santos, 21, and Ivan Jones Castro, 33, to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Both defendants are held on $100,000 cash bail.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Santos and Castro with kidnapping, rape, sexual assault of a minor, aggravated assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

The victim and Santos have identified the remaining suspect, a juvenile.

In other news, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo denied the motion for bail modification of another defendant in a sexual abuse case.

The Public Defender’s Office filed the motion on behalf of Noel Bautista who was arrested last May.

From the original bail order of $25,000, Bautista was required to post $2,500 cash, or 10 percent, and to issue $22,500 as appearance bond.

Bautista through the Public Defender’s Office is asking the court to modify the  $2,500 cash bail.

Bautista has denied the charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, and attempted sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.

Bautista was remanded to the Department of Corrections custody after the hearing.
