Demapan said his main goal is to provide some guidance to the college for the betterment of NMC.
“I’m an engineer by profession and I would like to put in some engineering perspective,” the former Senate president said.
Press Secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr. said Demapan was appointed by Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and confirmed by the Senate two weeks ago.
He added that the governor still has to make another appointment to the NMC board to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Agnes M. McPhetres.
NMC Chairman Charles Cepeda described Demapan as a “very smart individual.”
Cepeda is confident that Demapan will share “great ideas” and guide the other regents in addressing concerns regarding the college.
“He is a very experienced individual in the community and has a wide public service experience,” Cepeda said.
The other regents are Rita H. Inos, Elaine Orilla, Maria T. Peter and Janet King.
