A DETAINEE, Joey Maratita, escaped while receiving medical treatment at the Commonwealth Health Center on Wednesday evening, the Department of Public Safety said.
“At approximately 8:06 p.m., DPS 911 dispatch received a call reporting the escape of a detainee [who] fled on foot,” Police Sgt. Fred Sato, the DPS public information officer, said.
Department of Corrections and DPS officers were searching for the detainee. According to DPS, he was seen heading southbound by Shirley’s Restaurant in Garapan, wearing a hospital gown.

Maratita, 31, was charged and arrested for creating a disturbance in Chacha Ocean View Middle School on Wednesday, Jan. 17, resulting in a school lockdown.
