The Division of Fire Prevention and Arson Investigation investigators arrived on the scene to investigate and assess the cause of the fire.
Fire Investigator L. Iguel stated, “With multiple fuel loads, the fire was able to spread quickly towards the southern side of the structure. Minor soot damage was found on adjacent structures on the southern side, and the suppression operation was able to control the fire’s exposure and contain it in one area. Furthermore, the eastern side of the structure’s tin roofs had collapsed from the fire. Based on scene investigations and interview statements, the area of the origin was located on the northeast side of the property. The structure was housing about 14 individuals who were all safely evacuated. No injuries or fatalities were reported on scene.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and will be determined at a later date by the Division of Fire and Arson Investigation.
