DFS Galleria president Marian Aldan-Pierce presented a check for $3,000 to overall committee chairman Parker Yobei at the DFS administration office in Garapan on Tuesday.
“As part of its company culture, DFS Galleria has always encouraged the promotion and development of arts and culture in the community,” Aldan-Pierce said.
“We hope that this year’s celebration will get a lot of support from the public because the Flame Tree Arts Festival is a big event that everyone looks forward to every year. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the festival, let us celebrate our artists and the role they play in keeping our cultures and traditions alive,” she added.
Yobei accepted the donation on behalf of the committee and the Arts Council.
“Their sponsorship for the 30th anniversary celebration of the festival is a testament to their continued patronage of the talents and skills of our local artists who help perpetuate the cultures and traditions of our proud ancestors,” Yobei said.
Arts Council Director Angel Hocog said the donation means a lot and shows that DFS Galleria remains steadfast in promoting the island’s rich heritage through the annual festival.
“We hope that this move will encourage other establishments to follow suit and support this big annual event,” Hocog said.
The 30th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival will be held from June 9 to 12 at American Memorial Park.
The largest cultural event in the commonwealth and the region, the Flame Tree Arts Festival provides local artists an avenue to showcase their crafts and artwork, and for the community to enjoy the largest cultural celebration in the islands.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating 30 years of Uniting Cultures and Traditions.”
