Diplomatic changes in Samoa

Lemalu Tate Simi has been appointed high commissioner to Australia. He is currently chief executive in the ministry of commerce and industry.

Senior government auditor Faaolotoi Reupena Pogi will be the new consul general in Auckland, New Zealand.

Two new diplomatic missions, Tokyo, Japan and Beijing, China will also be established.

Leiataua Dr. Kilifoti Eteuati, currently Samoa’s diplomat in Canberra, will set up the new mission in Tokyo, while senior foreign affairs official, Tapusalaia Terry Toomata, will be the first ambassador based in Beijing.

The Samoan government is also advertising its top civil servant. Applications for the position, held by Faamausili Dr. Matagialofi, close on  Feb. 6.
