DPL also moving out of Joeten building

But like the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., DPL will soon move out of the building.

The lease contracts of the Division of Revenue and Taxation  and the Zoning Board will expire in June and

September, and are also likely not to be renewed.

Babauta said they have already announced a request for proposals.

“Hopefully, we can get a better offer than what has been negotiated or paid for,” he said.

He denied that politics was the main reason for the relocation of government agencies with offices at the Joeten building.

The Joeten family backed Gov. Benigno R. Fitial’s Republican opponent in the November elections, former Rep. Heinz S. Hofschneider.

In any lease, Babauta said, the tenant can choose whether to continue the contract or not.

He also noted that Department of Public Works Secretary Martin Sablan made an ocular inspection of the Joeten building.

But Babauta said they have yet to receive a report from DPW.

Marianas Management Corp. president Clarence Tenorio Sr. earlier confirmed that the government agencies occupying the Dandan building are moving out.

CUC’s lease contract expires this month.
