Records showed that Adriano had diabetes, she added.
Adriano was found dead inside his house in Koblerville on the afternoon of Jan. 22, 2009. His body was already in the first stage of decomposition.
Ogumoro said police officers went to Adriano’s house after the former lawmaker’s son called DPS at 1:58 p.m. on Jan. 24.
She said police had to break down a window in order to gain entry to Adriano’s house.
Adriano, 49, lived alone in his house and his son last checked on him on Jan. 20.
Adriano’s remains were flown to Tinian from the Commonwealth Health Center on Jan. 29 and was buried on Friday at the San Jose Cemetery following a Mass at the San Jose Church.
Adriano was a former police official on Tinian.
A Republican, he was elected to the CNMI House of Representatives in 1993 and won another term in 1995. He was elected to the Senate in 1997 and was serving his second four-year term when he became Senate president in Jan. 2004.
He was Tinian’s first lawmaker to become Senate president.
In 2005, he ran for Tinian mayor but narrowly lost to Jose P. San Nicolas of the Covenant Party.
