The search now involves the island’s wastewater system.
“We are happy and appreciate the new approaches, alternate searches being done by authorities other than the jungles or caves in finding my two grandchildren,” Elbert Quitugua told Variety.
“I am still hopeful. I am waiting for them,” said Magdalena Camacho, the victims’ grandmother, in a phone interview.
FBI special agent Tom Simon said honest sharing of information and answering questions posed by law enforcement may solve the mysterious disappearance of the girls who have been missing since the morning of May 25.
The FBI and the police appreciate the community’s willingness to share information, “and we hope that continues as the investigation progresses,” Simon added.
The total reward money for any information leading to the recovery of the sisters or prosecution of person or persons behind their disappearance is $50,000.
